Message re maintenance at Clevedon

Last Saturday we started the repairs and maintenance to the backstop and butts area.

Thanks to ten members from CRC and the two from ASRA.

The work required on the backstop is as follows:

Replace all the broken sandbags on the top of the backstop.

Build a 1m high tyre wall in front of the existing wall - this to allow backstop material to lie at a shallower angle so as to get better coverage and preveny damage to the sandbag wall.

Cover the backstop with new imported fill.

This Saturday we will try and deliver fill to the backstop using a 2 ton tipper, abot 6 trips to give us about 16m3. We may need to help tow the truck out after tipping, so those who have 4x4s need to help. There will be tow ropes available.

Next Saturday approx 150 tyres will be delivered for the backstop. These will need to be carted from the clubhouse to the butts.

Brian Duder has kindly provided about 8m3 of fill / topsoil at the butts. Some of this was used to fill new sandbags.

The rest needs to be placed on the backstop using wheelbarrows.

I am not sure if there will be any shootng on Saturday but the current weather report is for a sunny day.

If the tipper cannot get to the butts we will try delivery during next week, so we have all the material for the following Saturday.
